Ingredients
- 75grs butter or margarine/butter
- 100grs sugar
- 150grs plain flour (OR 100grs plain flour, 50grs almond flour and almond essence)
For the filling:
- 2 cooking apples, peeled and thinly sliced
- grated rind of 1 lemon
(wash the lemon before grating) - 1/2 teas cinnamon
- 1/2 cup of water
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
Method
- Mix the sugar and margarine into a cream mixture then add the flour and mix – the more crumbly the better so it might be necessary to add more flour.
(If you want an almond flavoured crumble, use 100grs plain flour and 50grs of almond flour plus a few drops of almond essence). - Peel and finely slice the apples and place in dish.
- Add 1/2 cup of water to the apples plus sprinkle 2 spoons of sugar, grated lemon rind and cinnamon.
- Put the crumble mixture on top of the apples.
- Cook in oven at 170 degrees for 40/50 minutes (until the crumble is a golden colour).
